The place is a big old house which requires a lot of maintence that is not done. But the main problem is that the owner has no idea how to deal with the problems that occurs because of the lack of maintence. The shower was falling from its support, the glass door was getting out of the rail once you try to open, the sewer was running out of the floor, etc... And if you planing to stay during a public holiday do not expect to have your room cleaned once the maid will not work in such days.
I liked that it is a quiet place and would do very well for someone running away from the hustles of city life.
I did not like the fact that there is no cleaning service on Sunday and the fact that the second bedroom was indeed part of the kitchen, although the apartment was being referred to as a 2 bedroomed apartment.
Very nice and friendly staff, beautiful views, perfect location. Very good value for the money.
- Liked the bathrooms and rooms sizes and cleanliness
- Didnt like leaving my rental car parked outside with no other security available.
I enjoyed the wonderful and helpful staff. Location was very good with beautiful views of Camps Bay.
Television was poor.
Simona is a pleasant!
Hotel is not in Campbs Bay as it stated on their website. Very inconveniencing location. Breakfast was revolting. Ostrich room has no tv, small outdated room on the top floor. Very exhausting walking up the stairs. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone who visits cape town. The standard is far too low comparing to other hotels in the a
The best thing about Vila Simona (which trumps all else) is its panoramic ocean views offered at very reasonable room rates. It is as high up the Table Mountain in Camps Bay as one can get. Simona, the proprietor, is a very interesting person and an attentive and responsible host, doing her best to single-handedly manage the property and attend to the needs of the guests. Despite some issues, Vila Simona is a very unique place to take in the beauty of Camps Bay and worth the price. Personally, I would stay there again and would recommend it to independent minded travelers.
The few rental rooms are clean and very safe, but not luxurious. Breakfast is not included and may be ordered separately. In practice it is more enticing to descend the mountain and start the day at one of the many very good restaurants on the beach which serve breakfast until early afternoon. The housekeeping service is minimal and suspended on Sundays. The property itself needs a good deal of upkeep and investment to live up to its potential. For instance the pool could be kept cleaner and the poolside area readied and welcoming for use. In practice the steep 40+ minute walking distance to the beach and the shops & restaurants on Victoria Drive (the only ones in all of Camps Bay!) makes it impractical to be without a car. The alternative is a $4-$6 cab ride each way up/down the mountain.
Beautiful surrounds and very neat. Love the soft music played in the dining room. Simone and the staff were very friendly and the room was cosy and clean.
Breakfast was a bit expensive comparing to other guest houses we have stayed. Was served in style.
This was the worst place we stayed in, in an otherwise excellent 2 week holiday. A "mountain view" room, with a view of the rear fence; a double bed with 2 single quilts on it; a rubbish tv with 3 channels and no decent reception; self catering but no microwave. Any other place at the same cost would have excellent facilities. A hotel owner who wasn't willing to accept faults and who charged us the full amount when we moved elsewhere. Appalling.
Staff were very friendly and happy to work there.
Did not realise that the room was so small and the bathroom was outside - but it still did not ruin the great experience.
The rooms were clean and neat.
Only 2 plate stove, no microwave, not child friendly at all, TV's were not connected and did not work, no toitlet paper, toiletries provided were only filled to 20% full. There are rooms all around you and above you so it is not a quiet stay.
